Magnetic drive water or wort brewery pump
These TE-7S-MD pumps are magnetic drive units (not shaft/direct drive like cheaper pumps) built specifically to handle hot wort and water. The benefits of a magnetic drive pump are that they are more reliable and require less maintenance, saving you money. Since they use a magnet to turn the impeller, the impeller is fully enclosed; there is no mechanical seal (where the drive shaft enters the head, connecting the impeller to the motor) which is leak prone and can be expensive to repair, and they are not positive displacement, which can over-pressurize leading to damage or rupture. However, they cannot handle high levels of solids (don't let a lot of grain into the pump hose) and do require liquid being pumped to lubricate and cool the impeller. If the pump is ran dry even for a short period of time the impeller and shaft may become overheated and damaged. A larger diameter hose should be used on the pump supply/inlet side than on the outflow side and the inflow of water or wort should never be restricted in any way. To regulate the outflow (to control the rate of fluid movement) use a valve on the discharge/outlet (our Diaphragm Valve is excellent for controlling flow) only.
Magnetic drive 1hp brewery pump specifications
- The TE-7S-MD has a maximum water or wort flow rate of 53gpm/200Lpm
- Maximum head of 57ft/17m (maximum pressure of 25psi but with back pressure and 1/2" hose approx 40gpm at 18psi)
- can be wired for either 120V or 240V power.
- The pump comes with two welded 1.5" TC connectors. Click here to see the March 815 1/25hp homebrew pump, a smaller, less powerful version of the 7S pump.
Brewery pump accessories
Additional products can be added such as the Pro Brewery Pump hose kit which includes:
- 9' of 0.5"ID nylon braid reinforced silicone hose and 3' of 1"ID stainless coil reinforced silicone hose with hose barb by 1.5TC connectors and hose clamps
- two 1.5" TC sanitary clamps
- two 1.5" TC silicone gaskets
- 2x1.5" reducer
Note: Power cord, hoses and cart are NOT included with the 'pump only' option.
Note: When included, some assembly of the cart and power cord are required. Qualified personnel or electrician should be employed to connect the power cord to the pump and an appropriate plug (or hard-wired). If not connecting the pump to a BREWHA Power Controller Box (L6-15 cord ends are supplied with each BREWHA box and the pump should be wired according to the 'high voltage' pattern on the pump; do not connect this 1hp to a BREWHA BHPBWT single heater controller (used with pilot brewery systems) as total draw will exceed rating of the controller. If hard-wiring or connecting to your own supply, ensure proper load rating on a supply side fuse; refer to specifications sheet below.
Note: these pumps should NOT be ran dry at any time. Always have water or wort unrestricted and free flowing into the pump using a 1" or larger diameter hose. Flow should only be restricted on the outflow side.
Note: these March magnetic drive beer pumps are non-self-priming magnetic drive units built specifically to handle hot wort and water. They do not require a mechanical seal between moving parts (which greatly improves reliability) but they are not self-priming (meaning they need to be full of liquid to operate) and they require liquid being pumped to lubricate the internal parts. If the pump is run dry for a period of time the impeller and shaft may become damaged. The inflow line and port and leading to the pumps should always be fully open and it is best to never fully close the exit port on the pump when operating, as the free flow of liquid serves to ensure the pump head (impeller shaft) does not overheat. To regulate the flow only use a valve on the discharge/outlet side of the pump (either on the exit port of the pump, or the port where liquid is being returned to the brewing system from the pump.

All the equipment I ordered is high quality and beautiful. Nathan answered every I had question quickly. The pump moves a lot of wort. Take caution not to uncover the heating element so you don’t burn it up........I’m just sayin.
